Reality TV Awards Poll

Amazing Race 12

AOL recently polled over 1.3 million readers to find out what they love and hate most about reality television.

While most of the responses were entirely predictable (Best Villain: Simon Cowell), I must say there were a few winners I didn’t see coming. (Is host really worse than Julie Chen?)

Here are just some of the top vote-getters in this year’s poll:

Will There Be A Male-Male Couple on DWTS?

Lance BassIf you thought talk about Paula Abdul trying to get on Dancing with the Stars was controversial, this piece of gossip might just top that one.

According to the New York Daily News, Lance Bass could soon become the second performer from ‘N Sync (the first being ) to demonstrate his dancing skills on the DWTS floor. The twist? The openly gay singer may supposedly be assigned to male partner.

While I have no problems with the reality show wanting to diversify (I don’t think they’ve even had an openly gay celebrity up until this point), do the producers really need to try the stunt pairing? Would this whole thing be more distracting than its worth? Shouldn’t Lance want to be judged on his own merits? And how exactly would the judges score any possible lifts anyway?

Then again - this all could just be a wild rumor. (Fingers still crossed.) You can expect the final lists of Season 7 contenders to be released sometime in August.

If Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough Were Still On DWTS

Dancing with the Stars' Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough

Hoping to drag out their

romance

fifteen minutes of fame as long as possible, ’ Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough decided to take their partnership to YouTube. Although the real-life couple was booted off the ABC series in Week 7, the two have not yet stopped dancing. In fact, the lovebirds apparently still think about what could have been.

In a 6.5-minute clip (which can be seen after the jump), the former dance partners deliver a dream-like version of the Foxtrot they never had a chance to perform. They also attempt to poke fun at themselves while spending a nauseating amount of time in each other’s arms.

DWTS Updates: Cristian de la Fuente, Mark Ballas and Derek Hough

Cristian de la Fuente on Dancing with the Stars

Nearly four weeks after an his on-camera injury, actor Cristián de la Fuente is finally getting a chance to rest his arm. Back on April 28, the Dancing with the Stars finalist ruptured a tendon while dancing the Samba with his partner Cheryl Burke. Although it was determined he would need to have surgery, his doctors allowed him to continue on with the competition.

Surprisingly, despite his limited range of motion, the telenovela star rebounded with more focused performances and higher scores. Unfortunately, his inability to carry off more dazzling lifts - and Kristi’s undeniable skill - kept him from snagging the mirrored ball trophy in the end.

Dancing with the Stars 6 Final 3

On last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, the last contenders got their chance to prove they were worthy of the finals. In the first ever “face off,” all three couples performed the same style of dance (the Cha Cha) within the same song. Then in the no holds barred Freestyle round, the stars were allowed to bring whatever their momma gave them.

By night’s end:

  • Cristián da le Fuente earned a 26 for his Cha Cha (an improvement from his earlier 21) and a 26 in the Freestyle round.  TOTAL: 52
